Aims

We are a warrior alliance. Meaning we fight our own battles, make our own allies and do not farm.

Our aim is for either an overall alliance win or individual player win without heavy support.

Failing this we will unleash hell on any farmers that look like they could win.

MoW operates a democratic system and will vote on any long term matters. Emergency matters will be decided by whoever is online at the time.

Any discussions between alliances should now go though V2X

Beta 9 Summary

Men of War was a locally founded alliance. There were three original members that started beta 9 together: Luckystrike0, thekaiser and V2X.

Then the good local players were recruited to give a total of 10 players: AstroAss, DemonX, frikozoid, Langer, luckystrike0, mayaniel, mzeim, thekaiser, tk13, V2X.

After recruiting all our members and eliminating the untagged players we needed a bigger target. VVV looked nice and tasty. We had become strong allies with TAPA and had worked well with a couple of their players.

So MoW and TAPA decided to declare war on VVV. The first 2 systems were taken by surprise and little resistance was encountered. VVV managed to destroy a lot of the TAPA fleets in a counter attack, but seemed to be interested in killing the fleets and not saving the planets. A couple of their players in particular (Etrius and Greystoke) did some damage back but as far as I am aware MoW did not lose any planets. They only attacked the systems that we had already taken off them.

VVV had been virtually isolated from their allies by way of MoW NAPing those allies as well. Their only possible allies, SPA a small alliance decided to attack TAPA and after some initial success they were pushed back.

All this time MoW were getting high PL, on average nearly 10 PL higher than the second ranking alliance, proving that you do not need to be funded or supported to rank well. ES eventually overhauled MoW when their PL increased (ff?) and started the countdown 1 day(?) before MoW... Then...

After the attack on ES we found ourselves in pole position. The position we had both hoped for and feared that we would end up in. To quote a rather ecstatic founder...

Unfortunately with only 10 players, not the mickey mouse alliance that some had assumed, we could not organise a defence. We had one big problem on the first night... Not one of us was available to log in. We kept this quiet and hoped for the best... Along came kaptnsparrow (aka Travolta?) And reduced a lot of population in a very short time.

We were then unsure whether to retaliate or carry on attacking VVV. In the end we just sat back and defended against most of the attacks. To say our resources were strained is an understatement. We were then visited by CO after we were out of the countdown and out of the race... we did not see the point in these attacks, and did not have the fleets available to defend in the right areas. Because of these attacks (mendoza) we did not finish in the top 3 alliances. Which we would have been happy with.

The above clearly show the effects of the final attacks.

In summary though it was a highly successful first beta for [MoW] and a lot of long term friendships were created. It did not end in the way we would have liked but the whole beta was thoroughly enjoyable.
